Love My Neighbourhood Week

Hi all,
Today was ‘Jobs Day’ – we had a steady flow of visitors all day and a number of people found help in finding jobs and/or training. There was also opportunity to sign up for Sports Qualifications and Courses and a number of people signed up for these too.
It was a really good start and all contributors were delighted with the response. Praise the Lord!! Keep praying. Tomorrow is ‘Home Resources Day’ with Wirral Partnership Homes, Extended Services and Bebington Library offering support and help.
Much love,
Dave

Members Only re Love My Neighbourhood

Hi all,

Sorry that some of you have not been able to access the members only area – if you are having problems doing this please contact Mark.  This item is for members only…

Thanks so much for getting stuck in on Sunday delivering invites.  The response has been fantastic and the whole neighbourhood seems to be talking about it now.  Two more things to mention about LMN week:

1.  If you’re a group leader and you want to advertise, please don’t forget to let me have a suitable poster.  You’ll need to get them to me by this Sunday.

2.  I’ve had two requests for help: one to help paint a ceiling; the other to mow a lawn.  I’m happy to do both these things but want to make sure we all get a chance to display the love of God to people.  If anyone wants to do either of these, please let me know asap.  (They’ll need to be done in the next couple of weeks though as that is what I’ve promised).

Thanks!!

Love,  Dave

Love My Neighbourhood!!

Did Jesus Really Say … “Finished!”?

In our series ‘Did Jesus Really Say…’ we reach Passion Week and contemplate one of the phrases Jesus used on the cross – ‘It is Finished’.  What did he mean by this?  Did he mean it was all over and his mission had failed?  Or could he have meant something else?  Like many people, I have come to love old VW Campervans.  My wife and I have just bought one to restore…

Young People graduating from Worship Academy!!

Hi all,
I got this from Sarah Hockley today….
I am writing to you to inform you of a great celebration coming up! You may have been aware but young people from your Church have been attending WYFC’s Worship Academy (working together in partnership with the local Church). They have been attending sessions for the last 6 weeks where they have been challenged to look at what worship is, different styles of worship and how to live a life of worship to God.

On the last session of this Worship Academy Course we are having a service of graduation and commissioning.

I would like to invite you and your church to come and join with us to celebrate and commission these young people back into Churches.

It is taking place at Greasby Methodist Church on Tuesday the 23rd March at 6.45pm (service at 7pm). There will be service of celebration and a time of fellowship after for young people, parents and Churches to join together.
If you have any questions or would like to speak to me please see the details on the information below.

Thursday Evenings 6-9

Please note everyone; the church will be used on a Thursday evening for the next few months. A friend of Jess’s called Beth will be using the church for drama classes with 15-18 year olds for the next 10-12 weeks. If anyone’s interested, she may be able to offer places.  Please let me know if you’re interested – she’s defo up for jireh yp to get involved.  this is what she says about it …

“Creations is a new theatre company dedicated to devsing new work and expanding creativity in 16-18 year olds.
Are you 15-18 and want to create some new and interesting theatre? This project is for you! As a group you will be in charge of this project, you will make the decisions and create the whole performance!”

Prayer Room? Wot Prayer Room??

Prayer Room’s gone, but working on a Prayer corner!!! Ideas welcomed, but have a look first

Word of the Week … Atonement

What is atonement?  What did the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ actually achieve?  And how?  How can a God of love use such a violent method for salvation?  Isn’t a God who treats his own Son this way nothing more than a cosmic child abuser?  This week’s Word of the Week is Atonement… More >

Word of the Week … Salvation

The great conference speaker, Sidlow E. Baxter, was famously once asked by a stranger,

“Are you saved?”  Baxter replied, “Do you mean, ‘Have I been saved?  Am I being saved?  Or will I be saved?’”

It led the enquirer to ask more of what salvation means to the individual…

Is God self-centred?

Why does God require us to worship him?  He tells us be humble and serve each other whilst all the time he wants us to worship him!  Isn’t this God having an attitude of,  ’do as I say, not as I do’?  This talk explores some of the issues raised by this subject..
